Hi:
I would like to buy Isuzu KB300DTEC LX 4X4 DC (2009) but need to talk to owners about Reliability, Fuel consumption, After sales service, Roadholding etc.
Is there anybody out there that would like to share their experience with me? Thank You.

After about a year of research, because money is hard to come by, I have just bought a new Isuzu 300LX Extended cab 4X4 and am thrilled with it. Great grunt, appears very tough and a great ride. Currently fitting out with fridge and dual battery system behind seats in place of one of the 2 bins. Roller drawer system in load bin and a mattress on top. Only problem is I need a canopy and don't know which one to buy - any ideas.

Paul, Centurion.

Hi

In November 2009 I took delivery of the Isuzu Double Cab 4x4 Diesel Automatic 3.0 Litre T-DEQ. Great vehicle around the city, makes sitting in those endless traffic jams a little less stressfull.Have so far only tested in deep sand at Tembe Elephant Park. Handled well. Tows like a dream; pulls my Afrispoor Leopard trailer easily and has plenty of overtaking power. Only niggle so far were a few rust spots. Obviously General Motors are not selling products well and they are standing in the weather at PE, one of the worlds rust capitals!

I have now owned the vehicle for a year.

So far so good....with a few concerns.

I did a very tough 5,500 Km Botswana trip pulling the Afrispoor trailer. In Botswana on the tar roads fuel consumption was a very acceptable 13,5 l /100 Km towing the Afrispoor. However, this shoots up on dirt roads dropping to 14,5 l/100 and sandy roads 16,5 down to 20 in deep sand.

No heating problems in Botswana.

I do have gearbox heating problems when towing up long, slow hills. The engine temperature also climbs up hills.

I have overcome the gearbox heating on long slow hills when on a dirt road by engaging low range.

I did have a gearbox heating issue when climbing up Sani Pass, again overcame the isse by engaging low range.

Would I buy the Isuzu again if given the opportunity?

Yes, but I would go back to manual mainly for the economy but also because of the annoying heating problems.

In town, where I do 85% of my driving the auto box is fantastic.

Would I buy and other make of double cab in preference?

Probably not. Then I would look at Fortuner, Everest or Mitsubishi Sport.
