Towards the end of October last year, my wife and I visited Khaudum in our 2006 Pajero GLX. The Pajero has OME suspension, snorkel, ARB bumper, front skid plates and long range fuel tank to mention the most important accesories. ALL of these were necessary. We were traveling alone. We travelled via Ganzi and Drotskis caves and approached Khaudum from the south. Please note the last little town has fuel which is not indicated on maps. The southern entry route of some 65 km was easily negotiable gravel road with some sand in places- nothing serious. When you enter the park you have about 15 km of narrow fairly thick sandy road to negotiate. Deflate your tyres to about 1.2 bar if you have not already done so. We were the only people in Sekreti camp which is not fenced and boasted a single cold shower. Camping only. I think camping cost was R30 per person pn.The trip of about 80 km from Sekereti to Khaudum camp took approximately 4/5 hours and has extremely thick sand for long stretches. Trailers are not recommended. Khaudum camp is in a similar state of disrepair and here you only get a tap on your camping site. The road out to the north heading to the Caprivi highway is daunting with some of the finest and thickest sand you will ever encounter. Around 50 km will take you about 5 hours. Great experience saw one other car in 3 days.
