With the backing of CTEK Sweden, ENERTEC has launched the CTEK Accreditation program in South Africa, whereby specific dealers in the outdoor and leisure market have been awarded an Accreditation Certificate.

What this means to the public is that these fitment centres have received advanced product training and product knowledge on CTEK chargers as well as ENERTEC and DISCOVER batteries – including battery maintenance.

Both sales and workshop personnel undergo the advanced training sessions to ensure clients will get the best solution for their vehicles.

Between May and June this year, three dealers have been awarded this Accreditation Certificate: Front Runner Kyalami (Johannesburg), Safari Centre N1 City (Cape Town) and Andre de Villiers from Safari 4×4 Roetes (Pretoria East). A further three dealers will be appointed soon to ensure that each region in SA will have an Accredited Fitment Centre.

To qualify, these dealers had to undergo specialised training and equip their shops with the necessary product selection to assist clients in making the right choice. DISCOVER Batteries have gone so far as to grant an extended battery guarantee under guidance of ENERTEC when a CTEK charger is used in combination with a DISCOVER battery. To top this CTEK has added an additional 12 months’ guarantee on the D250SA when fitted in combination with a DISCOVER battery at any one of these Accredited Fitment centres. further, when having a fitment done at these shops they will top up your vehicle battery, something most workshops neglect to do.

CTEK Chargers are state-of-the-art battery chargers aimed at maximising battery performance, which is something all modern-day cars desperately need, considering all the demands being put on the battery by their various electronic systems.

The CTEK 140A COMBO KIT

The only dual-battery system you will ever need

The D250S DUAL is a fully automatic 5-stage charger that supplies 20A to 12V batteries of 40–300Ah. It obtains its energy from DC sources such as alternators, solar panels or wind power and optimises this power to meet the charging requirements of different battery banks.

The SMARTPASS is a fully automatic power management system for controlling and optimising energy produced by alternators or conventional AC/DC chargers, which is then distributed to battery banks and consumers. It can handle up to 80A for batteries between 28-800Ah and is suitable for all types of 12V lead-acid batteries.

Features & Benefits

Charging a service battery – Charges the service battery from the starter battery or another current source that is connected.

Battery guard – Disconnects consumers when the service battery voltage is low in order to avoid deep discharge, which would damage the battery.

Start assistance – Automatically connects the service battery to the starter battery for 10 seconds to assist, if the starter battery on its own is unable to start the engine. (Start assistance function must be activated.)

Separation of the starter battery and the service battery – Prevents deep discharges from affecting the auxiliary battery.

Assigning current source priority – Can sense when the alternator is running and then works with the D250SA DC-DC charger to supply power consumers (such as a fridge) with current from the starter battery to maximise charging efficiency. Otherwise the power consumers are supplied with current from the service/auxiliary battery.

Dynamic overcurrent protection – Has overcurrent protection to shield the

product. Overcurrent protection permits maximum current to be sent from the alternator temporarily so that charging will be accelerated.

Battery temperature protection – Protects the battery by switching off charging if the service/auxiliary battery temperature rises too high.

Starter battery trickle charging – The service/auxiliary battery trickle charges the starter battery without assistance from the solar panel or alternator to compensate for the self-discharge of the starter battery. The service/auxiliary battery charges in 3-second pulses when its voltage is higher than that of the starter battery and the voltage of the starter battery is low.
