I recommend that a separate Category called e.g. “Forum Q&A” is added. Within this we can post questions and suggestions about the Forum specifically.

Thank you for your great suggestion – this is the exact feedback we appreciate.
A Q&A category has now been created.
When you mention email notification preferences, are you referring to the ability for email notifications to be sent to you when another user replies to one of your posts? Let us know what you have in mind and we’ll take it under serious consideration.
