If one drives on sand you deflate your tyres to float on the sand. If you drive in mud you would like to cut through the mud to get to the grip below.

So would one keep your M/T hard when driving through mud? What would the effect be of deflating your tires when driving in mud? Would you have to more or less grip on a wet/slipping dirt road? Is the design of a M/T as such that it would fling the mud out of the tyre grooves more effectively when hard?

Note: I know I got to walk it first or drive around it. Think the older generation does not like to dirty their vehicle because they know they need to wash it again.
