Just a heads-up to readers to be very careful if you are planning to stay at the Onrus Caravan Park near Hermanus anytime soon. Crime there is out of control. We stayed there for 4 nights in November and were robbed twice.

The fence around the park evidently is no deterrent to would-be thieves as it is not electrified.

To make matters worse, the Reception Desk do not warn you on arrival to literally lock everything away. Even our gas bottle was carefully unscrewed from our stove and stolen. Park your vehicle wheel on top of your power cable otherwise that will be stolen as well.

Other than really poor braai areas (take your own portable braai or be prepared to braai on the ground with a few bricks) the park is well cared for. Ablutions are kept spotless (outsourced to professional cleaning company) , refuse is collected daily and the lawns are mowed.

Thank you Rob, We where planning to visit that side of the Cape Province later in the new year. We will bypass that place and seek other place to stand for safety reasons. That caravan park will not be seeing us in the near future as there security is not up to scratch.
