Squeaky Cruiser door

The back door on my Land Cruiser has an annoying squeak – the door has been professionally adjusted twice. I thought of fitting an aftermarket steel rear bumper and spare wheel carrier to reduce the weight on the back door?
Is there anything else I can do before going to this expense?

    Hi there

Have any other Land Cruiser owners experienced this problem? And found a fix? Brian is using the standard tyre on the back door, so there is no extra weight at this stage.

My Prado 120 also develops a squeak at the back door from time to time. All that is required is to grease what I believe is called the ‘striker’, a part on the end of the door (below the lock aperture) that slips into a receptacle on the boot wall when the door is closed, preventing the door from moving up or down.

This has got nothing to do with the tyre.

It is supposed to be greased when the vehicle is serviced. Good technicians should be familiar with this problem.
