Hi. I have been a keen 4×4 camper with a bush trailer and a tent for many years. However SWAMBO has ruled: no more rough camping no more. But the bug still bites and I am thinking of a trip as follows with my Sprite Swing and my Ford 4×4 D/C: Into Botswana at Gabs and up to Kasane/ Chobe . According to t4a this is all tarred road and should be suitable for the Sprite. From Kasane I would like to cross the border at Ngoma gate into Caprivi and with the B8 to Divundu in the vicinity of Popa Rapids. The B8 also seems to be a tarred stretch and suitable for my Sprite. From Popa Rapids info on the road through Mahango game reserve is sketchy. I gathered that there is a stretch of some 30kms of gravel road, which may get swamped during rainy seasons.
From the border post one can drive down to Maun and back to Francistown and Gabs, all on tarred surface.
If I only have to contend with some 30kms of gravel road which is passable with a standard caravan, this could be quite a pleasant trip.
Has anybody done this trip or have any comments/ advice that could be shared and useful?
Johan.
