    I travel to Mozambique quite often and as a result need to deflate my tyres for driving on sand. from doing this I seem to get a lot of punctures on the sidewalls.

    From my research I have found BF Goodrich and Cooper. They appear to have stronger sidewalls. Does anyone know if its good to deflate these tyres?

    If anyone disagrees with my shortlist what would you recommend I get for my 4 x 4 Fortuner?

    Yeah, tyres deflating in sand could be asked for depending on the sand.
    Tyres pressures are important and if the tyres are good should be no problem!!

    Coopers have had issues with cracks on deflated tyres and you will have difficulty with the warranty claim

    @Pandy
    Mozambique has nice beach “roads” as well

    yes, they have everything…..beach roads….very hectic sand roads….very nice roads (from SA to Maputo)….rely fucked up tar roads….to main citys, any car, some roads…2×4 or good driving skills…..4×4 for the rest

    Traveling the vast hinterland of Namibia, leaving with much the same problem. Frequent soft sand areas (Riverbeds/dunes) followed by quite severe rocky terrain. Deflating my Coopers (265 75 16″) present difficulties as the sidewall does not easy give way, thus a pressure of up to 0.6Bar to attain the required profile. This is quite bad for the tyre and often results in failures later on the journey. And this is no joke costing wise….

    My quest thus for a muddy suitable for sanddriving. Any recomendations?

    A friend of mine drives a Land Cruiser 105 series in Mozambique , putting his deep sea fishing boat to sea daily. He mentioned the Toyo tires are the only tires he use since it is capable of being deflated to 0.6 bar and does not climb off the rim in the sand driving.
    I assume this will be due to a strong side wall??
