Has anyone had experience with the new Dunlop AT 5 grand trek tyres, they are very well priced.

    Hi Andy

Dunlop seems to be doing well with their tyres lately. The Hilux and Fortuner we tested recently both came with Dunlop Grandtrek At’s (AT 25’s if memory serves me correct).

On road performance was exceptional with good grip and minimal road noise. One place where they did struggle is sand. But the AT5’s has a slightly more aggressive tread pattern, which does lead to a bit more road noise, but gains alot more grip in loose or wet stuff.

So from our side we would recommend the AT5’s, but let’s see what our community says. I’ll post it on our social media as well.

    Regards

    Hi Andy,
for what is is worth the Dunlop Grandtrek At’s have good road holding but there mileage are not that great, the General grabbers are in the same price range and give better mileage I got R75000km and still had threads to go another 7 to 10K.
I replaced these with a very good deal that Best drive had on Continentals Cross AT special
(R1500 each)265x70x 16 for my LC series 70 SW I am happy thus far but have not done a lot of off road driving due to the lock down and travel restrictions

Very interesting, Dunlop’s new AT 5 range is R2100.00 per tire 285 x 60 x 18 They talk about new compounds that give 25 % more braking power and 100 000 km warranty , the set that were installed were made in Thailand July this year which is hot off the press, so far I am delighted but as always time will tell.
