SA4x4’s official tour operator, Ultimate Adventures, has expanded its tour line-up with four luxury expeditions, adding to its industry-leading range of trips. The addition of new tour leader Laurent Changuion has freed Simon and Desiree Steadman up to focus on longer, more decadent adventures. We spoke to Simon to find out more.
So, what’s new?
In addition to being longer than standard Adventure Tours, the Prestige Tours offer both breakfast and dinner, both prepared by the masterful Chef Esrom. There are also more activities on offer, and a higher standard of luxury with lodge and guesthouse accommodation. “One of the biggest drawcards on the Prestige Tours,” says Simon, “is the fact that they are limited to a maximum of four vehicles, as we have found that some of our clients prefer the smaller groups.”
Who should be excited?
Over the years, Simon has tried to move with the times, and his goal is always to give guests exactly what they are looking for. Essentially, the Prestige Tours are aimed at travellers who want to see real Africa, but crave a little bit more luxury than the bush alone can offer. “We have a lot of repeat clients so we need to make sure we are always looking for new destinations and offering new experiences,” he adds. “Having said that, however, these tours are for everyone!”
What’s on offer?
The first batch of Prestige Tours on offer include the Southern Namibia Explorer, the Tanzania Ruaha Selous Expedition, and the Ultimate Kgalagadi Experience. Perhaps the most exciting, however, is the epic Iceland Tour; an icy eight-day journey through one of the most eerily beautiful countries in the world, in search of the famed Northern Lights. “We’re doing Iceland in Arctic Hilux trucks modified for snow and ice,” says Simon. “It’s been on my bucket list for some time now, and I can’t wait to tick it off!”
Simon and Desiree pride themselves on exceptional guest interaction and impeccable attention to detail, and will make sure that you depart every destination without leaving a single rock unturned. If you like the sound of these new, next-level tours, check out the details below.
