    Hi Guys ,

Can anyone tell me whats the ideal suspension to fit on a 2009 Ford Ranger dc 4×4.

Have got a few quotes for OME & Iron man but they faaar too pricey 18k+ that seems a bit excessive.

Got a quote for Camil Suspension at R7800 including fitment. has anyone fitted camil before , If so , whats your honest opinion. Sale rep said its a 50mm lift depending on the age of the vehicle????

Should i fork out for the OME or Iron man or will the Camil suffice.

    Regards

Go for the Camils – I had these on my Hardbody with no issues whatsoever!

Camil seems to offer good value for money, but I can’t comment on them because I’ve never had any experience with it. I’ve put Old Man Emu on two of my 4x4s in the years and I swear by it. Definitely pricey, but you get what you pay for.

Whatever you eventually choose, go for the product that gives the longest warranty e.g. 3 year, 100k km….

I hope its not to late because I see this thread is quite old but here is my 5c any way .I currently have a nissan hardboddy 4×4 3.0td . I had an extra blade fitted to the rear leaf springs for a 50mm lift( For towing heavy trailers) at mogale spring works not knowing what diffrene to expect in ride quality with out load. I hapend to like the new firmness in the rear suspension as it improved the ride quite a bit the bakkie used to feel floaty and a bit to soft and when towing the back was really hanging . but now its firm but not to hard it seems like a perfect balance for loaded and unloaded applications .But what I didnt like was that they also turned up the front torsion bars so that the bakkie doesn’t look funny with the rear lift , I was only informed of this on collection and that they do this for every one and that there would be a bit more firmness in front and that I would like the ride. This was not the case it was very hard and uncomfortable every small grain of sand on the road and slight uneven road knocked through hard . I took it back and asked them to take every thing back to standard . As they started I asked if I could test the bakkie with just the front lowered back to standard as I really needed the rear leafs for towing . I was very happy with the ride and left it like that and I told my self that I could live with the funny dragster looking stance . Soon it started bugging me and started looking in to front lift kit options and saw the insane price tags on these kits , I then joined the forums and did a lot of reading and decided to call piet at camil as I could find only good reviews about the product and the price tag certainly the lowest of all the other available manufactures . Piet then gave me the guaranty that I would get a 30 to 40 mm lift and a very pleasant ride or money back . I was and still am very satisfied with my bakkies stance and ride quality in all applications , towing, just loaded , no load and off road . The Improvement you get and the service you receive for the price you pay , This is the only way to go. PS I have driven another hardboddy in the meanwhile with a R16000 iron man kit fitted , I am happy to report that my bakkies ride is very comfortable in comparison no kidney belt required and the handling and performance on and off road is the same, if there is a difference its very slight ,not enough for me to notice. I hope my story helps . Since the suspension lift I really got hooked on 4x4ing and I did a few other mods and I dont think I will stop kiting out or doing mods for all kinds of applications . just consider that before you start with just a simple lift kit. Its never gona stop. Regards.
