The big daddy in the Toyota Land Cruiser line-up, the 200 Series, has been given a few mechanical and aesthetic upgrades to bring it in line with the rest of the luxury SUV world. Nothing too dramatic, mind, as this is Japan’s careful evolutionary strategy.
The first thing to notice is the new three-bar grille, which makes a distinct link to the newest Fortuner/Hilux models, along with new character lines along the flanks, and a bonnet with a hollowed-out centre section. Headlights are now LEDs and the tail lamps extend further inwards.
It still looks unspeakably large and imposing. As the owners desire. Inside, the designers took a long look at the sea of randomly located buttons, switches and displays, and have now grouped them by function (fancy that) to go along with a new 4.2-inch TFT touch screen.
