Allmech, a leading South African manufacturer of boilers and supplier of water treatment components and the sole official agent in South Africa for Runxin water treatment systems, is now offering one of Runxin’s domestic range Runlucky RL-W20 manual water purifiers on the local market, dubbed the H2GO. This portable filtration and purification system is ideal for use in remote areas, and Allmech believes it will serve the needs of the South African 4×4 and camping community well.

Anelia Hough, water treatment consultant at Allmech, explains that the H2GO is a manually controlled portable filtration system offering filtration accuracy of 0.01μm. “The pump is operated manually, and has been ergonomically designed to be comfortable and easy to use,” she says. “The particle and ultra filter can remove 99.9% of all bacteria and other harmful micro-organisms in water, so it’s great for overlanding in remote areas, or for emergency outdoor applications.”

The H2GO uses PP cotton (polypropylene filter cloth) with an ultra filtration unit, efficiently removing harmful micro-organisms in water, and the manually operated pump can move large volumes of water (pump head up to 2 metres). The filter element can be quickly installed and is easy to clean. The system can be used for both surface and ground water. At 320mm x 78mm x 350mm, the RL-W20 unit is easy to store and transport.

Test results show 100% removal of E. coli, as well as large particles, protozoa (microorganisms that can cause water-borne diseases), bacteria, viruses and heavy metals. This makes it more effective than many other water treatment options, including micro filters, UV light, chemical treatment and boiling.

“The idea is that you can have drinking water anywhere with the manual water purifier,” says Hough. “We think this will meet the needs of hikers, backpackers, outdoor adventurists, campers and caravaners, as well as being useful in special applications, such as rescue missions after natural disasters. It’s recommended for areas that have contaminants in the water system and where you suspect the water is unsafe or of low quality.” The H2GO is suitable for multiple locations using water from any source, so there’s no need to lug heavy water tanks on vehicles.

It requires no power and is lightweight and compact, folding up for easy storage. It can help save money and plastic waste by avoiding the need for buying bottled water. The only maintenance required is periodic replacement of the filter cartridge.

Allmech is also the only authorised South African agent for Runxin valves, produced by the global Wenzhou Runxin Manufacturing Machine Co. which is headquartered in China.
